17 free workshops being offered at this year’s Activate! Wellness Fair for 55+

This year’s Activate! Wellness Fair 55+ event will take place on Wednesday, March 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The goal of the fair is to connect participants with their community and with vital information to keep healthy, well, safe and independent in their homes. Fair participants will be busy with 40+ booths from local organizations and businesses with products and services specifically for 55+ years; blood glucose and blood pressure checks; and 17 workshops and presentations – all free of charge.

Speaker presentations will provide an opportunity for engaging dialogue and questions. Light snacks and refreshments will be served at the following presentations:
• Storytelling for the health of it; A story of caregiver burnout; Faith and spirituality; Nikkei stories of Japanese Canadian pioneers; and the Invisible illness story.

There will also be instructor-led sessions, where all materials will be included:
• Clay self-portraits; Painting memories; Improvised theatre; and Drama voice and story.

Educational workshops round-out the activities:
• Digital storytelling with Simon Fraser University; Memories and stories with the Richmond Public Library; and Just for men.

The Activate! Wellness Fair is part of Richmond Canada 150, a year-long program of events and activities to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary. More than 60 events are planned for this special year.
